Removal of ‘no-deal’ welcome, now is the time for constructive solutions -Chambers Ireland

Commenting this evening (13 March 2019) on the UK Parliament’s vote on leaving the European Union without a Withdrawal Agreement and a Framework for the Future Relationship, Chambers Ireland Chief Executive Ian Talbot said,

“We welcome the result of tonight’s vote and the progress being made to ensure a disorderly withdrawal from the EU by the UK does not occur.

However the vote is of little relevance unless it is followed up with firm and decisive legislative action by the UK Parliament to stop an “accidental” exit from the EU taking place on 29 March 2019 by the automatic operation of law as currently enacted.

As the largest business network in Ireland, we now call on MPs to urgently complete the process they have commenced this evening to prevent a chaotic exit at the end of this month.

In the intervening period Irish businesses must continue to plan for a ‘no-deal’ outcome.”
