Meet the service providers that are available to assist you in making a decision about your adult education, training and employment choices. Get support in your efforts to secure employment and enhance your employment prospects. If you are working part-time find out how you can up-skill. Explore your options and progression routes. In addition to the above services you can also attend the following workshops:
“I Want that Job – Getting to Yes!”
10.40 – 11.20am – Jackie Brennan Co-ordinator Mayo Job Club. If you are sending off CV’s and getting no response or want a job but don’t know where to begin this workshop will provide you with a quick guide to becoming more employable. During the workshop you will learn how you can change your CV and covering letter to make yourself more relevant to the employer and get you to an interview. It will discuss how to dress to impress, finishing off with how to handle interview nerves, interview questions and competency based interviews. You will be given an opportunity to sign up for a free personal CV Consultation and SICAP Career Clinic.
“Returning to Learning”
10.40 -11.20am – Barbara Ronayne Adult Guidance Counsellor MSLETB. Career guidance, financial support options available, courses and training available for adult learners.
“Care in the Community”
11.30 – 12.10pm – Serena Horkan Operations Manager RHS Home Care. This workshop will discuss careers in caring, how to become a Carer in the community, training and up skilling opportunities in Mayo and current posts available.
“SICAP Support for Small Business Start-Up”
11.30 – 12.10pm – Rita Hopkins Mayo North East SICAP Enterprise Officer. If you are considering setting up your own business this workshop will provide an introductory guide to becoming self-employed. We will provide information on the supports provided by Mayo North East for business start-ups under the SICAP programme. You will have an opportunity to register for our October 2016 “Start Your Own Business” course and get information about a new “Career Options” Programme for younger people.
“Tourism and Hospitality – An Opportunity for Career Success”
12.20 – 1pm – Michael Lennon General Manager / Michelle Walsh HR Manager Mayo Hotel Industry. If you are interested in a career where every day is different, a role in hospitality and tourism could be ideal for you. There are roles to suit everyone – early school leavers, those who have completed their second/third level education, people who want to get a new skill/improve their existing skillset or individuals who are looking to re-enter the workforce. We will discuss the flexibility of employment within these sectors as well as the opportunity to travel and on the job training options. We will provide information on the opportunities for education in the industry through tourism apprenticeships and courses that are available to enhance skills for chefs, bar persons, trainee managers, sales and marketing and front of house.
