Choir from Missouri, USA to Perform in Ballina, Co Mayo
The Missouri meets the Moy at the Kennedy Glasgow Centre at The Quays, Ballina on Monday july 11th at 8.00pm. When members of Bofield CCE will join with the visiting Our Savior Lutheran Choir from Missouri, USA in celebratory concert of song, traditional music and dance on Monday July 11th at -8.00pm.
The twenty member strong mixed voice choir hails from St. Charles which is located near St. Louis. The choir members have many diverse interests (including cats, fishing, model railroads and soccer) and careers (including web masters, nurses and teachers). The choir members are looking forward to visiting and performing in Ballina as part of their tour of Ireland.
Members of the traditional Irish music and dance group, Bofield Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, will also perform at the concert. Bofield has a long history of music with the group being the oldest traditional group in the county.
Kennedy Glasgow Centre has a long history as a unique setting for concerts with the local music groups and choirs regularly using the building. The building itself along the River Moy is rich with history having function in the past as a boathouse before being restored to its current state.
Mayo International Choral Festival welcome groups from all over to county Mayo throughout the year with some more musical groups planning on visiting the county in the near future.
The concert on Monday 11th July at 8pm, at the Kennedy Glasgow Centre, The Quays, Ballina, is facilitated by the Mayo International Choral Festival and supported by Moy Valley Resources IRD and Mayo North Promotions Office. Admission is free.
